SuncraftSenzo VG10 Knives
The Suncraft Senzo VG10 knife collection combines Japanese sharpness with a more substantial feel than many traditional Japanese kitchen knives. Made in Seki, Japan, the range is constructed around a VG10 stainless steel core, surrounded by 69 layers of Damascus steel and finished with a hammered Tsuchime pattern.
What separates the Senzo VG10 series is the way the blade is formed. The knives are cold forged from a thicker than usual blank before being compressed under high pressure and pressed again with a Tsuchime mould. This gives the blade a tougher, more substantial character in hand, while the VG10 core provides the fine cutting edge and edge retention expected from a quality Japanese stainless steel knife. Paired with a black pakkawood handle, stainless steel bolster, and double bevelled edge, the Senzo VG10 range is designed to offer precision, durability, and confident everyday performance.

Our Personal Opinion
Handling the Suncraft Senzo VG10 knives, the first thing that stands out is the weight. They feel more substantial than many Japanese knives, with a dense, reassuring character through the blade. That added weight gives the range a very different feel from lighter, more delicate Japanese profiles, making the knives feel stable and planted on the board.
In person, the hammered Damascus finish has real depth. The Tsuchime marks across the upper blade add texture without overwhelming the pattern of the Damascus steel beneath. It is the kind of finish that looks much better in hand than in flat product photography, especially when the light catches the hammered surface and the layered steel together.
On the board, the VG10 edge feels crisp and precise, but the extra blade weight gives the cutting action more authority than expected. The indents on the upper section of the blade can help with release when working through foods that tend to cling, such as oily, fatty, or starchy ingredients. The black pakkawood handle and stainless bolster give the knife a secure, well-finished feel, while the small red ring between handle and bolster adds a subtle design detail that stands out more in person.
