The Suncraft Pateru collection is built around a clear idea: pairing a refined Japanese cutting core with the robust, familiar feel of a Western-style knife. Made in Seki, Japan's knife capital, by Suncraft, the range takes its name from the Warikomi (three-layer) construction at the heart of every blade. Each knife combines an AUS-10 high-carbon stainless steel core with the balance and grip of a full-tang, bolstered Western build, giving cooks the sharpness associated with Japanese steel in a knife that feels solid and reassuring in the hand. Across the collection, the shapes cover the everyday essentials, from a compact petty for detailed work to a full-size Gyuto for general prep.

What defines the Pateru range is that hybrid construction. The Warikomi method clads a hard AUS-10 core between outer layers of softer stainless steel, which is designed to keep the cutting edge hard and keen while making the blade as a whole more forgiving and durable than a single hard slab would be. Hardened to 61 +/-1 HRC, the core is built to take and hold a genuinely sharp edge, while the three-layer build adds toughness and eases long-term maintenance. Finished with a clean matte surface, fitted with a black pakkawood handle and a stainless steel bolster, and secured by a full tang with three rivets, the range is designed to feel like a professional workhorse that is still easy to live with at home.
