KOTAI Pakka Damascus Knives
The KOTAI Pakka Damascus knife collection builds on the practical foundation of the standard Pakka range, adding a more advanced 67-layer Damascus blade construction for improved performance, durability, and visual depth. Handmade using Japanese AUS-10 high-carbon stainless steel, the series is designed to offer sharp cutting performance with a robust, easy-to-handle feel for everyday kitchen use.
Unlike the single-layer 440C steel used in the standard Pakka range, the Pakka Damascus blades are forged from 67 layers of steel, giving them increased strength, shock resistance, and corrosion resistance. The blade is hardened to approximately 61±1 HRC, helping it take and retain a fine edge over regular use. Finished with a hammered Tsuchime pattern, hidden full tang construction, and a black pakkawood handle, the range combines Japanese-inspired sharpness with practical handling and long-term durability.

Our Personal Opinion
Handling the KOTAI Pakka Damascus knives, the range feels like a clear step up from the standard Pakka series. The black pakkawood handle keeps the same practical, grounded character, but the Damascus blade gives the knives a more refined presence in person. The pattern adds depth without making the range feel overly decorative, which suits the practical nature of the collection.
The hidden full tang gives the knives a reassuring sense of balance and structure. In hand, they feel steady and controlled, with the handle sitting comfortably whether you are working with a pinch grip or a more relaxed hold. The overall feel is still approachable, but the blade construction gives the range a more premium edge compared with simpler stainless steel knives.
On the board, the AUS-10 steel gives the edge a crisp and confident cutting feel. The Tsuchime finish is useful during prep, helping with food release when working through ingredients that tend to cling to smoother blades. As a collection, KOTAI Pakka Damascus feels sharp, practical, and well balanced, offering the visual character and performance of Damascus steel while keeping the easy-to-use feel of the Pakka range.
